A couple of dog-lovers are trying to make it easier to take their best friends more places more often, because it is good for dogs and their owners to continue to build that bond.

"The bonding between a dog and its owner is a special special bond," said Dr. Tom Vice, with the Broadway Oaks Animal Hospital.

Jonathan Rivera came up with a new way to transport his dog Mojo more out of necessity than need. It is called the Ruffit Dog Carrier. It is sleeker and more lightweight than other dog carriers.

"It allows people to take their dog hiking, biking and on public transportation," he said.

The Pleasanton-native was on a bike ride when Mojo, his friend of 12 years who was running beside him, cut his paw on a bottle and had to be rushed to the vet.

The cut healed but the vet discovered that Mojo had major hip problems and would be limping within a month. That's when Rivera and his brother Jesse, an engineer and fellow dog-lover, came up with the Ruffit Dog Carrier. It is very similar to a backpack, just much smaller. It has shoulder straps for the human and crossing straps to keep the pet in place. The dog sits in what looks like a little bag.

"They are sitting down on their haunches (and) their little feet are tucked up under them," Rivera said. Their paws rest on the shoulder of their rider or walker and their head is free to look around and enjoy the ride.

The come in extra small, small, medium and large, and slim and regular. They will hold a dog weighing up to 30 lbs.

"It's a better dogs' world out there," Vice said.

Its supper handful, your pet will travel with you everywhere and... It looks super cute! What do you think about it?
